A single-line manufacturer can only quote what it makes. That is not dishonesty, it is just the structural limit of the position — and it means the comparison you would find useful is one they cannot give you.
Where a material can come from more than one workable source, we can set the options next to each other: what each costs, what the lead times are, and — the part that usually matters more — what actually differs between them technically.
This only makes sense for materials where genuine alternatives exist and where the difference is worth your attention. For a commodity grade at small quantity it is usually not worth the delay, and we would say so.

Do you do this for every enquiry?
No. For most stock grades at ordinary quantities the comparison would add delay without changing the decision. It is worth doing where genuine alternatives exist and the difference between them matters to you.
Will you show us the underlying source prices?
We work on a margin over what we buy at, like any trading supplier, and we would not pretend otherwise. What we can set out clearly is what each option costs you and what differs between them, which is the part that affects your decision.
Does comparing sources delay the order?
It adds some time. Whether that trade is worth making depends on the value at stake — we would tell you roughly how long before you decide to go ahead.
